Birthday Cake

Hazel has had a good birthday morning.  Story time at the library, then off to the bakery to choose a cake.  She picked raspberry.

It was garnished with redcurrents - apparently they were a bit tart!
The rest of it was pretty good though!

The Lake

Claire and Darius planned to say their vows on the beach, but Mother Nature had other ideas - and that day there were tornadoes not too far away.  The plan B was lovely (photos of that to come).  Every other day was glorious, and we did go down to the lake often - Hazel even braved the chilly water for a dip once or twice (and lcuky Papa got to supervise that).

On the day these pics were taken though, there was no swimming.  Just pointing out the ducks.

And asking them to come a little closer for a cuddle.

Hazel is wearing the bubble dress I made.

New House

Not our new house.... Hazel's new house in the garden of our new house!

Daddy, I want a pony!

Started to organise the photos from Canada.  Here are the first ones!

Hazel had a lovely morning with me and her mamie at the petting farm.  She fed some pretty forward goats, chickens, and pigs.  And petted some enormous New Foundland dogs.  As I was assisting with these activities, no pics.  But I did get the camera out when she went for a ride on Buddy or Buster, or whatever was the very tolerant little pony's name!

Visit to the Clairière de l'Armistice

Last Sunday we went to visit the Clairière de l'Armistice.  It is where the WWI armistice was signed, in the Forest of Compiegne.  At the time it was deep in the forest, but now it is a clearing and memorial.  And it is not 10 minutes down the road from our new place!

Hazel didn't enjoy the museum bit as much as the wide open outdoor spaces!

Having a rest after picking a serious quantity of dandelions, and spreading the seed to the winds...

Taking the "Keep off the Grass" signs seriously....

Running along the path...
