Galette des Rois

Yesterday we went to Bruno and Slyviane's house to have Galette de Rois.  It's a traditional cake eaten to celebrate the Epiphany, made from pastry (flaky like a croissant), and filled with frangipane.  Inside there is a token (like in a christmas pudding), and the person whose slice contains the token is King.  

Well, of the three cakes, Antoine found three tokens....

So, we mounted an army, overthrew the new king, and installed his daughter as Queen, and her godmother as Regent.

Ahhh, crisis averted!

Magalie's visit

Magalie came for a visit this weekend, and even went along to baby swimming lessons with Antoine and Hazel.  We had time for a very quick photo session, just before she had to leave to catch her plane back to Rome.

These days though, if you want a photo of Hazel, you better make sure the TV is off - or the chance of her looking at you and not the tele is zero!

Stories before bed

New addition to the bedtime routine - a story or three!  Hazel seems to really enjoy them, looking at the pictures, or watching our faces as we read.

Of the three gazillion photos I took last week, about two-thirds were of icicles!  They were pretty amazing, especially with the clear blue sky behind them.

On our last full day, Friday, the snow came.  There wasn't much scenery to see anymore after that!

Hazel enjoyed her trip to the snow, as it meant a cool new pair of sunnies and lots of walks in the snow.

Christmas in the Alps!

We got home yesterday from a fantastic Christmas break in the Alps (Les Arcs) with Chantal, Pierre and Claire.
