Sippy Cup!

This week's new thing is the sippy cup!  Whilst Hazel has never been a fan of the bottle, the cup seems to be working out fine.

She's got the basics sorted.  She understands the concept - handles, spout, gob!

She's yet to figure out the 'tilt'.

And she hasn't quite mastered the sucking technique to extract the liquid.  She kind of bites the teet, a gush of water floods her mouth, and she spits most of it out...

...but the most important thing is, she is way digging these new food and drink experiences!

Hazel meets Hugo

The Depernet family came to visit us in Bourgoin today.
I made Gordon Ramsay's pea and mint soup with crème fraiche and parma ham, followed by salmon wellingtons.  For dessert we had icecream cake from the chocolatier's shop. mmmmm

Hazel was most impressed with her new friend Hugo.

He liked tickling her feet, and she enjoyed having them tickled!

Carrots... A Success!!!

Hazel started solids today.  For her first meal, she had home-made, fresh from the market, carrot puree.

She sat up in her chair, with her new funky bib, and a spoon for her (and one for Mummy).

At first, she wasn't too sure that the carrot was a taste sensation, and was somewhat perplexed.

But after a mouthful or two, she came to realised that Mummy's carrot puree is freaking delish!

And she ate up lots and lots... and shortly thereafter needed a little lie down, and some pants off time to digest!

Al and Hazel have the giggles!

The Perrots come for Sunday lunch

Yesterday the Perrot's came over for Sunday lunch, to try out Al's curry, made with spices he brought back from his trip to Marrakech.

Mia had a turn in Hazel's jumperoo, which she seemed to enjoy, even if her legs are still a bit short (so there wasn't much bouncing going on!).

In fact, it may not have been the jumperoo that she enjoyed, but perhaps the silly face's her Dad was pulling.

Either way, Hazel was happy to share her toys, and played very happily on her mat!

Big Girl Pusher

Hazel's graduated to the big pusher.  No more baby pram for her!  That was made for napping - and that's what babies do on walks! For a couple of weeks now, Hazel has been perfecting her ab crunches to crane her head out of the pram to check out what's going on.  Walks are no fun when you look at the hood of the pram, the sky and your mother.  Forward facing pushers, smiling to the people, and the ability to throw things out (of the pram) is the way forward!

As it was a bright day on this first day of pusher, she wore shades.

...and accessorised her big girl carriage with big girl teeth!

Hazel meets John and Benita

Hazel got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...  Nothing was right with the world, probably as teeth number 3 and 4 look like they'll be breaking on free very soon.  She yelled all the way to the market, and all the way back.  If her mother had a euro for every raised eyebrow and knowing smile on that short walk, then her mother might not need to buy a euromillions ticket this week!!

Bored of her playmat, her jumperoo, and her mother's cover of Jelly Man Kelly, we turned to youtube.

At first Hazel wasn't sure that she was a fan...

But John and Betina won her over pretty quickly!

And all seemed right with the world for the following 20mins!

Growing up to be a big girl is exciting, but not every day is easy.
Thank heavens for Playschool.
